Having lived in Europe carless, for 4 years, I experienced a sense of freedom and connectivity with humanity simply from spending time in common transportation together. Not only that, it was incredibly efficient, leading to less need for things like concrete parking lots and parking fees. Finally, having read the Solutionary Rail book, I see it as a win-win for eliminating unnecessary pollution from our atmosphere that is poisoning our bodies and warming our climate uncontrollably, an incredible economic enterprising opportunity for rural and Native American communities, and a more longterm solution overall in terms of equipment durability.
