We have an extremely dangerous job, and we do it very well, but disasters can and do happen, and we go to work every day wondering if it will on our shift. Oil is not our only enemy. Stop adding more hazards to our jobs for your profit. No Single-Employee Train Crews!

He laid down for a nap at 7 p.m., then got a call at 7:30 saying he was needed at 9 p.m. By the time he reached his destination terminal in Canada, he’d been awake for nearly 40 hours. Malm remembers times his conductor said he fell asleep standing up. It felt like he’d only blinked." I've had to keep my engineer awake many times, and being awake for 30+ hours is extremely common in our industry. And they want to put us alone in the cab? The consequences will be catastrophic. No technology replaces the road conductor. Support HR 3040 and tell BNSF NO! To 1-Person Crews! 2-1=47!
