Do you like to ham it up? Or do you want to carry or pull props? or would you gather signatures? We need you!\n\nPlease RSVP to:
[email protected] with which days/times you can be available and how much time you'd like to spend, as well as what prop or roll appeals to you or if you're flexible.\n\nHave fun speaking up!\nWe plan to both attract attention and gather signatures as we move around the Folklife Festival as a little parade. We'll have a giant puppet Statue of Liberty, a rolling Corporazilla (who bursts through a building to grasp the capitol with a sign on it SOLD), some super hero costumed signature gatherers with capes and giant pencil props, and others in judge robes with corporate logos all over them, some corporate people costumes, and talking TV heads who will be shut off by remote controls in the hands of the superheroes. We aim to attract people to signature-gatherers and/or to the WAmend signature booth where they can also donate to the cause.\n\nSpeaking of donations: if you want to help get I-1329 on the ballot, you can donate at WAmend.org or by sending a check to: WAmend at PO Box 17939, Seattle, WA 98127. Donations will be used to hire signature gatherers to augment the volunteer effort in places besides Folklife, PCC and others already largely targeted by volunteers. There's currently a generous $50,000 challenge grant so your contribution will be doubled this week!\n\nFor the Solstice Parade in June, we'll change it up a bit, drawing attention to signature gatherers outside the ensemble, and adding other costuming ideas to replace written words. We'll also have kids on unicycles and probably stilters. Your augmenting ideas are welcome!\n\nInitiative I-1329 Recruiting Action-Oriented Volunteers\n\nWe're on our way to creating the 28th Constitutional Amendment!\nSixteen states have already passed it! \nWe're one of 22 more actively pursuing it right now. \nWe have until June 25th to gather the needed hundreds of thousands of signatures to get this on the Ballot. \n\nThis measure would urge Washington’s Congressional delegation to \npropose amending the Constitution to clarify that \nConstitutional rights apply to natural persons, not corporations, and to authorize \ngreater regulation of political contributions and expenditures.\n\nMore information about I-1329 at WAmend.org\n\nSpeak Out For The People and \nAgainst the Unleashing of Corporate $$ in Politics!\nAt 2014 Folklife Festival…and beyond.\n \nThank you for your participation and for passing this along!", "icon"=>"https://www.facebook.com/images/icons/event.gif", "type"=>"event"}}
